Why donate?

DSC00131.JPG

One of the primary reasons the pantry was created is to help alleviate financial stressors that come with participating in the fashion design program, as it is an extremely cost heavy major. Hefty fabric costs are an immense deterrent to design students and creatives and play a large role when it comes to success and retention in the fashion program here at Kent. As material costs disproportionately affect students from low-income families, our main goal is to provide equal access to ALL Kent students.

We are currently accepting: fabric that is 1 yard or more, trims and buttons of any kind, and sewing notions like thread, zippers, rulers, boning, etc. We do not accept any clothing at this time. The Fabric Pantry wants to make it clear that the Pantry will only accept donations that come directly to the Donations Team. Please do not drop off anything without getting specific permission from Fabric Pantry members. It is important that we keep the Pantry a free and accessible space and so we need to keep it clean and organized.

What can I donate?

What else?

Our pantry organization gratefully accepts monetary donations and seeks partnerships with local businesses interested in sponsoring our efforts. We invite local businesses and community members to support our The Fabric Pantry through various avenues of sponsorship. Your generous contributions can make a significant impact: sponsors can provide monetary donations that enable us to purchase yardage of fabrics during our sourcing trips, ensuring we can continue to meet the needs of our students effectively. Alternatively, sponsors can donate raffle baskets for our semesterly fashion show, enhancing the event experience and raising funds crucial to our mission.

If you or your business are interested in supporting our efforts or learning more about how to get involved, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are deeply committed to engaging with and supporting our local community, and we would be excited to discuss partnership opportunities that align with your philanthropic goals. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with big dreams.
